What is Cryptid?. . . The word Cryptid means creatures that might live in the wild somewhere but aren’t officially recognized/acknowledged by scientists. This is what I named my webcomic idea. My potential webcomic is based off these made up creatures called Chiropnids (kai-rap-nid). Chiropnids were made from a scientific experiment that went wrong, they’re a mix between humans, spiders, and bats. The first ever chiropnids that were created escaped human society and created their own little community in the depths of a cave. The story starts with generation two of the chiropnids, they’ve made a home for themselves and are happy until humans once again find them and believe they should be exterminated. What happens next? Well if I ever actually make this into a real webcomic, you’ll have to read to find out! Chiropnids are just a name some people have called them, others call them different things but it isn’t like the “official” name of the species and it’s the one I use to refer to these creatures the most just because I like it 👍
Functions and Anatomy of the Chiropnid Body
Chiropnids are humanoid creatures with some bat and spider features. They have the general anatomy of humans and the general human genitals. Chiropnids also have human behaviors, they can clearly express emotions and speak. Also for simplicity reasons, they speak English but do have the ability to learn other languages if taught. They can also get disabilities and illnesses. Even though they’re partly human they do not technically have races, they don’t have looks that put them into different categories. They look different sure but they’re still all the same species and don’t need to be differentiated.

Their arms and wings are hidden and compressed under their skin. When released they leave scars.
They can have 6 arms which counts with their pair of legs to make 8 limbs. They have a pair of bat wings on their head and they can grow the wings on their backs as well, their arms and wings can be released and hidden at will. Biological male and female chiropnids are recognized by their ear shapes, males have long droopy ears while females have sharp upturned ones.

If you draw my characters go ahead and draw whatever you want on them like headcanons! (Pls keep things like canon sexualities and gender identities though). You can also do redesigns!
